How much does it cost to Join Disney Vacation Club

Disney Vacation Club (DVC) is a points-based vacation ownership program. It is different from the traditional timeshare where owners buy a specific size unit in a set of the year. On the other hand, DVC works on the point system, giving flexibility to the owners to travel when they want, for how much time they want and can choose any size of accommodation according to the needs.

How much it costs to join the Disney Vacation Club?
There is no standard price to join the Disney Vacation Club. Moreover, DVC membership cost depends on the number of points you buy and to which resorts your points are associated. How much points you buy is purely your choice (although there are some limitations as well) and will depend on a few things such as family size, types of the room you may want, and how much time you want to spend at a DVC resort per year. If you have the option to buy DVC points directly from the developer, you will find out that DVC resale will help you to save thousands of dollars on the purchase.

If you buy your Disney Vacation Club membership from the resale market, the price can vary. A DVC club member who is selling their membership can set any price-per point what he wants. Thus, most reputable timeshare brokers will guide the members regarding a price which is fair for the seller and a price that Disney will allow. Disney Vacation Club has complete right to refuse all the DVC membership being sold on the resale market. This means, effectively, that if Disney thinks the price someone is charging is too low, they will buy the contract themselves in order to keep price integrity of their product.

Interest: When buying through the Disney Vacation Club, financing of membership cost is a good option. The DVC offers one, three, five, seven and 10-year plans.

How DVC Point System Works?
Disney Vacation Club works on the point system. Rooms at the DVC resorts cost a certain number of points per night. Therefore, you must have enough points, if you want to spend one week per year in a studio room at the listed DVC resort. You also need to look at the number of points required per night and multiply that night by the number of nights you would like to spend there. It would be your starting point. If you are willing to spend there more than one week or you can some additional requirements, you need to buy more points. You spend your points like dollars based on nightly rates and your point reset each year on your contract anniversary dates.
You can buy these points once, and they are assigned on a yearly basis until the validity of the contract. For instance, if you buy 300 “vacation points” during your initial purchase, you will receive 300 points every year to spend on your vacation accommodation.

Is there a minimum purchase requirement?

If you buy directly from Disney to become a Disney Vacation Club Member, you must purchase a minimum of 100 points. If you buy DVC Resale Market, there is no minimum purchase. Once the initial investment is complete, you may add on more points for any DVC resort. Through Disney, 50 points are the minimum amount of add-on points if using Disney’s financing or 25 points if paying cash. The one significant advantage of buying from the best DVC reseller is that price per point may be less than buying directly through Disney.
